PROFESSIONALS BEHIND THE SCENES

Recognizing the importance in creating the stage, sound, lights, security and overall environment for an evening of music to happen, Respect Music sees the professional behind the scenes as that which demands concentration, precision, good communicative skills and wit.

You are the foundation for a party's success.  Welcome.

SOUND

  1. Respect Music strongly encourages live performances and events, in all environments possible. (Permit pending, of course.)
  2. Also important are unedited high quality recordings of musical performances, this to capture the instances where creativity is at it's purest and most genuine level.  From the DJ's subtle mixes, to a musician's moving expressions... all captured for a more music-savy listening audience.
  3. Recording live performances of original works, either pre written or instantly composed, is a crucial vehicle to the musician's success in the highly volatile music career world.
  4. Respect Music believes that recording an evening is a dedicated job in itself. There are too many lost cases, instances where the attempt at recording failed due mainly to lack of attention in the matter, (everyone on or around a stage are already busy to begin with, and it's not the fault of anyone!!)  Doing sound alone demands a great deal of attention and dedication.

This is a very important issue needed to be raised in your professional circles.

Possible Solutions

  1. The musical artist(s) can supply an 'assistant' (free), perhaps even prepared with a MiniDisk or DAT recorder, RCA to mini-8 inch cable, and blank media.
  2. For smaller setups, with stand-alone mic, record 2 feet from the instruments overall center points, or better yet, straight from the final mix output. Usually stereo RCA.
  3. Recording at highest quality suggested, but capturing an entire set may be more important.  (ie. setting MiniDisk recorder to medium quality 4 hours vs. high quality 80 minutes.)
  4. If the performance exceeds the length of tape, the person in charge of recording can do the job right, and change the tape when it's done.   We're all waiting for technology to catch up.

Thank you for all you do, and welcome!
